Your Questions, Answered
-
Absolutely.
If you'd prefer to attend from the comfort of your own home, Telehealth is available. Some people also choose to alternate between face to face and Telehealth appointments depending on what works best for them.

We are located at 503 Brighton Road, Brighton SA 5048, inside the “Okay Counselling” building.

Unfortunately, I do not offer bulk billing.
My goal is to provide personalised, high quality care, which includes time spent preparing for your sessions, writing individualised session notes, developing resources, and coordinating with other professionals where needed.
If you're eligible for a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you may be able to claim a Medicare rebate after each session, reducing your out of pocket cost.
If you're unsure whether you're eligible, I'm happy to talk you through the process or you can discuss it with your GP before booking.

There's no one size fits all answer.
Many people find fortnightly sessions to be a good balance, particularly at the beginning.
However, some people prefer weekly appointments, while others find monthly sessions work best for them. We can discuss your goals, circumstances and budget together and decide on a schedule that feels right for you.
-
No. You do not need a referral to book an appointment.
However, if you are eligible for a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician, you may be able to claim a Medicare rebate for up to 10 psychology sessions each calendar year. Your GP will usually refer you for the first six sessions before reviewing your progress for any additional sessions.

Yes.
Everything we discuss is confidential unless I'm legally required to share information.
There are a few exceptions where I may need to disclose information, including if:
There is a serious and immediate risk of harm to you or someone else;
There are concerns about abuse or neglect where reporting is required by law; or
Your records are subpoenaed by a court.
If confidentiality ever needs to be broken, I will always aim to discuss this with you first wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so.
-
After each appointment, I will send you personalised session notes summarising what we discussed and any strategies or key takeaways. Where appropriate, I will also send worksheets, resources or information relevant to your goals.
If something comes up between sessions, you're also welcome to reach out.

Think of our sessions as a genuine conversation rather than a formal interview.
I am warm, collaborative and down to earth. I won't sit in long, awkward silences waiting for you to figure out what to say. I'll guide the conversation, ask questions, share observations, explain the "why" behind things, and work alongside you.
My goal is for therapy to feel comfortable, natural and productive, not overly clinical or intimidating.
-
That's completely okay, and actually very common.
You don't need to come with an agenda or have everything figured out before you arrive. Guiding the session is part of my job. Whether you've had a difficult week or have absolutely no idea where to start, we'll work it out together.
-
Life happens. I completely understand.
You will never be judged or "in trouble" for not completing something between sessions. We'll work together to set goals that are realistic for your lifestyle and where you are at emotionally.
Some weeks you might have capacity to practise new skills, while other weeks simply getting through the week is enough. Therapy should fit into your life, not add more pressure.
-
Yes, if you'd like me to.
With your consent, I am happy to liaise with GPs, psychiatrists, paediatricians, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, schools, support coordinators and other professionals involved in your care.
For children and adolescents, I also regularly communicate with parents and schools to help support progress across different environments.
-
That is absolutely okay.
Not everyone feels comfortable picking up the phone, and I completely understand that. If texting or emailing feels easier, that is perfectly fine. Just let me know your preferred way to communicate.
The same goes for therapy itself. If you struggle with eye contact, prefer dimmer lighting, need movement breaks, or have other preferences that help you feel comfortable, please tell me. I'll always do my best to accommodate them.
My therapy space is a judgement free zone, always.
-
That is one of the biggest concerns people tell me before their first appointment.
My aim is to make therapy feel like a conversation with someone who's genuinely in your corner. We'll laugh sometimes, celebrate wins together, tackle the hard stuff when you are ready, and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You don't have to know exactly what to say or have everything figured ou. That's what I'm here for.
